Abstract

BAPTISTA, Jean Tiago. Indigenous “Machorras” and “Afeminados”: Abject Bodies in the Missions and Paraguay. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2021, vol.29, n.3, e71060.  Epub Sep 01, 2021. ISSN 1806-9584.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2021v29n371060.

Based on the current phobic situation in Paraguay in relation to sexual diversity and the Queer Indigenous Studies approach, this article analyzes the production of abject indigenous bodies, such as that of “machorras” and “afeminados”, within the Indigenous-Jesuit Missions (17th-18th centuries).

Keywords : Missions; Paraguay; Indigenous; Colonization; Queer Theory.
