ROVAI, Marta Gouveia de Oliveira  and  BRANCO, Naira de Assis Castelo. Surviving Women in Piauí: Severe Gender Violence and Patriarchy. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2021, vol.29, n.3, e70541.  Epub Sep 01, 2021. ISSN 1806-9584.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2021v29n370541.

This article aims to present some reflections on the oral narratives of three women who survived severe situations of violence in the city of Parnaíba, Piauí. In 2017 we began a study about gender violence in the city, using oral testimonial history as methodology and concepts of patriarchy and feminicide. We understand that the publicizing of these stories can contribute to the constitution of a positioned feminist knowledge and to the debate about the public policies of prevention and reparation.

Keywords : Oral history testimonial; Survivors; Severe gender violence; Piauí.
