Abstract

STEFFEN, Ana Cristina  and  BAUMGARTEN, Carlos Alexandre. Narrative Identity in Margarida La Rocque, by Dinah Silveira de Queiroz. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2022, vol.30, n.1, e74054.  Epub Jan 01, 2022. ISSN 1806-9584.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2022v30n174054.

The main goal of this paper is to analyse the female protagonist of Margarida La Rocque: a ilha dos demônios (1949), a novel by Dinah Silveira de Queiroz (1991). In the novel, the protagonist is shown as a woman who searches for new paths for her own self. From such a base, a reading is proposed according to the feminist theory perspective. Besides, the concept of Paul Ricoeur’s narrative identity was equally applied with the aim of showing how the building of the protagonist´s identity is brought up in dissonance with the woman´s stereotypes in literature.

Keywords : Dinah Silveira de Queiroz; Margarida La Rocque: a ilha dos demônios; Theory and feminist criticism; Narrative identity; Paul Ricoeur.
