Abstract

The paper is about the ways masculinity was shaped in De La Salle Brothers’ schools in Mexico during the years 1953-1989. For this purpose, the civic textbooks for primary and secondary education that the Lasallian institute edited during the years of interest of this research work are used. Another characteristic of this study is the use of categories from the gender studies and concepts from the Critical Discourse Analysis and pragmatics as methodological tools.
