Resumen

BELLO-URREGO, Alejandra del Rocio. Female Bodies: Power and Culture in the Colombian Pacific. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2022, vol.30, n.2, e74678.  Epub 01-Mayo-2022. ISSN 1806-9584.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2022v30n274678.

I present an analysis of the relationship between the meanings assigned to the female bodies of black and rural women from Ladrilleros (Buenaventura, Colombian Pacific) with the contexts in which they have been challenging for power. The methodology used was the life history and the biographic narrative interpretive method. Life narratives are developed in the period of the second half of the 20th century and the first two decades of the 21st. It was found that the recent history of the territory of Ladrilleros has been marked by the arrival of different groups outside the black communities who, by fighting for a place, have promoted ruptures in their cultural dynamics. This process has involved signifying female bodies in ways commensurate with the interests of the dominant groups. Black women have fought this, implementing strategies in which care emerges as the key to redefining themselves.

Palabras clave : Body; Cultural studies; Feminism; Colombian Pacific; Black communities.
