Abstract

OLIVEIRA-CRUZ, Milena Freire de  and  CONRAD, Kalliandra Quevedo. Reflecting maternity and digital social networks from matricentric feminism. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2022, vol.30, n.2, e86996.  Epub June 01, 2022. ISSN 1806-9584.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2022v30n286996.

Based on the results of quantitative research applied to more than two thousand mothers throughout Brazil, this text aims to discuss how the writing of personal narratives about motherhood and their respective interactions in digital social networks affect the processes of subjectivation of the social role of the mothers who construct and re-signify these discourses. The objectives include presenting matricentric feminism as a theoretical and conceptual basis; reflect on motherhood and digital social networks; and to analyze the meanings of motherhood produced by and in the exchanges and interactions in digital social networks. Thus, from the tension between the theoretical bases of matricentric feminism and the empirical material, it was possible to observe that the discursive practices about motherhood in social networks allow these women to recognize and talk about the inequalities they experience and that shape their roles and identities.
