This text presents reflections produced in a doctoral research that aims to follow the transexual military trajectories in the institutions, based in a multi-sited ethnographic perspective. Emphasizing the methodological path of the investigation, the objective was to problematize the presence of the researcher in the field, showing how corporeality, genders and sexualities affect the outlines of the processes of doing research. These elaborations took place from the insertion in security institutions, which are public and part of the state (Firefighters and Police, both military), and the need to combine the rigidity of formal authorizations with the permeability of the subjectivities that constitute the barracks. We apprehend how a sexual and a gender regime acts together with a military regime, in this specific group context.
