Abstract

BARRETO, Letícia Cardoso. Feminist research and prostitution: weaving networks of solidarity and struggle. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2022, vol.30, n.3, e77661.  Epub Sep 01, 2022. ISSN 1806-9584.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2022v30n377661.

This paper presents epistemological and methodological reflections, brought about by my long experience studying female prostitution. I explain the option for research and intervention processes not restricted to data gathering or other techniques, but built upon networks of solidarity and common struggles. My perspective is interdisciplinary, feminist, situated, and inspired by Community Psychology and Ethnography. I posit that we ought to showcase the ethical and political tenets that sustain our researches and work alongside the sex workers, to collectively build knowledge and bring about social change.

Keywords : Feminisms, social change; sex work.
