Abstract

BONALUME, Cláudia Regina; TAVARES, Marie Luce; ISAYAMA, Hélder Ferreira  and  STOPPA, Edmur Antonio. Women, work and leisure in Brazil: between times, likes, desires and the enjoyment of a right. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2023, vol.31, n.2, e83799.  Epub May 01, 2023. ISSN 1806-9584.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2023v31n283799.

The aim of this study is to reflect on the relationship between women, leisure and work, considering the data collected by the research Leisure in Brazil, from the quantitative and qualitative analysis. We chose to describe and treat the results, seeking to interrelate and articulate the data to other research and theoretical links, based on the understanding of leisure as a social right, and considering the differences and gender inequalities, crossed by issues of race and class. The results allowed us to observe the existence of a disparities between what women would like to experience in their free time and what they actually achieve. We identified the presence of barriers in guaranteeing the right to leisure, mainly due to the lack of time, linked to issues related to tasks culturally understood as a function of women, followed by a lack of financial resources.

Keywords : Women; Leisure; Social Rights, Work, Unpaid Work.
