This article presents the institutional evaluation as an instrument-process for the identification and promotion of quality in teaching establishments. Institutional evaluation is neither a matter of punishment not of reward, but this does not mean that it represents neutrality in what respects human resources. Evaluation is, first and foremost, a privileged auxiliary instrument-process for the valorization and dignification of human resources. On the other hand, although the process of institutional evaluation does not, on its own, work miracles, institutional development is heavily dependent on the solidary joint work involving the institution's internal and external communities.
