The actual study analyses the question of strategic planning in Universities, from a starting point that they - differently than entrepreneurial organizations - are complex institutions with a profile not well defined. I recogne that it is not enough for the University to define its mission, goals and objectives ignoring the departments that composes itself, specially the Faculty that - being its main spokesperson - is formed by professionals that work in the diversity and pluralism of ideas and areas of knowledge. Detecting the corporativism in Universities, the author recognizes that the implantation of strategic planning requires technical knowledge and political decision, in order to consider the University as a large corporation that mobilizes itself to defend of what is legitimale: the teaching, the research, the extension, the participation and the autonomy in the search of Academa Excellence.
