Integration of theoretic and methodological approaches in science education research demands knowing them deeply. The presentation deals with interpretative perspective and qualitative methods. Generalities of qualitative research are analyzed: its origins, its philosophical and epistemological foundations, its characteristics and types. Potentiality of qualitative research in research in science teaching as well as methodological aspects and the role of professor in qualitative research are also considered.
