Resumen

There is always a component of personal judgment when teaching departaments are evaluated. Furthermore, the available models are based on weighted sums that oblige the departaments to hove good scores in all the criteria evaluated, ignoring the expertise of each of them. Those drawbacks are serious, mainly when the evaluation models are used to support resources allocation. In this study we propose to use of Data Envelopment Analysis to perform the outputs of each departament. Weights assignment is different for each departament, avoiding subjective evaluations. We evaluate the teaching departament of the Universidade Federal Fluminense, considering as inputs the number of lectures and as output, research and teaching production as well as approved projects. We employ DEA models with and without weight restrictions.
