Abstract

GEGLIO, Paulo César. Public policies of continuous formation for teachers: a study of courses taken from bidding proposals. Ensaio: aval. pol. públ. educ. [online]. 2015, vol.23, n.86, pp.231-257. ISSN 0104-4036.  https://doi.org/10.1590/S0104-40362015000100009.

The text presents a discussion on public policies for teachers´ continuous formation, implemented in Brazil, focusing on the analysis of the actions carried out by the Education Secretariat of a municipality/capital of the northeastern region of Brazil from 2008 to 2012. The survey was centered on the proposals which were selected in a bidding competition for the accomplishment of courses for the continuous formation of municipal public school teachers. The objective of this study was to examine how the actions were developed and whether there are innovative aspects. We conclude that, although the proposals present the purpose to innovate, with the outlook of moments that favor the relation between theory and practice and the interaction between teachers and instructors in the school context, there is no evidence that this has actually occurred. Therefore, we can infer that the formation offered to the teachers was carried out by means of courses with the characteristics of the traditional model, based on the transmission and reception practice.
