Resumen

FELICETTI, Vera Lucia  y  FOSSATTI, Paulo. Alunos ProUni e não ProUni nos cursos de licenciatura: evasão em foco. Educ. Rev. [online]. 2014, n.51, pp.265-282. ISSN 0104-4060.

In all educational levels there is the problem of dropouts. This in turn has been a subject of concern due to the increase, highlighted in this paper, of dropouts in Higher Education in licentiate undergraduate courses. The aim of this study was to conduct a comparative mapping between the students who had a scholarship from the University for All Program (ProUni) and other current students of licentiate undergraduate courses, regarding their situation during the second semester of 2012 in the same courses they entered in 2007, 2008 and 2009 in a private nonprofit higher education institution of Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil. The methodology used was quantitative with an exploratory comparative objective and an ex post facto technical procedure. Descriptive and inference statistics were used to analyze the data. Frequency of evasion was lower among the ProUni students (30%) than among those current students (41.2%). The results showed ProUni as a loyalty program that is achieving students in undergraduate programs since the logistic regression result shows that ProUni students have 56% less chances of evading with a significant association (p=0,005). Younger students and women also presented less chances of evasion. This work points to the need for more comprehensive studies in regard to the relationship of those students when entering the training courses for teachers through affirmative action programs and the other students.
