In September, 2011, the French government instituted the learning of 'gender' in the sciences and earth life manuals in the L (literary) and ES (economic and social) series. One year before, regarding the debates concerning same sex marriage, France was divided in the double polemical subject of gender and school. The present text retraces that episode which has announced the huge homophobic manifestations that France has known in 2012-2013. It focuses attention on the programs, but also on its efficacy and on what they let us understand about the way France has reacted against gender and sexual questions.
