Abstract

GOMES, Raimunda Kelly Silva  and  NAKAYAMA, Luiza. Environmental Education: knowledge required for the educational faculty praxis of an Amazon Amapaense school. Educ. Rev. [online]. 2017, vol.33, n.66, pp.257-273. ISSN 1984-0411.  https://doi.org/10.1590/0104-4060.50459.

The aim of this study was to understand the knowledge of the teachers in the Francisco Filho school, in Amazon forest in the state of Amapá, about the inclusion of environmental education in their educational practice from a holistic and/or environmental component. To accomplish this, we use the technique of semi-structured interviews and two focus group sessions with an emphasis on qualitative approach. The results show that the teachers feel afraid to implement projects and activities that insert environmental education in their educational practices. Therefore, the environmental education in their school context must take into account the dynamics of their social, environmental and cultural contexts, seeing the teachers as professionals who have knowledge and concepts built in praxis.
