GODINHO, Ana Cláudia Ferreira  y  FISCHER, Maria Clara Bueno. School, work and gender: an experience of adult education at the public school system of Porto Alegre. Educ. Rev. [online]. 2019, vol.35, n.75, pp.335-354.  Epub 18-Jul-2019. ISSN 1984-0411.  https://doi.org/10.1590/0104-4060.62199.

Women’s right to education is an old agenda, especially for worker women. Rescuing this right at the EJA (Young People and Adults Education Program) school banks is a challenge for female students whom need to combine their studies with paid labor, housework, family commitments and others. It is also a challenge for schools to dialogue with the knowledge produced by women outside the school environment in their daily life experiences, where work is present in different forms. This article analyzes collective work experiences lived by homeless female students in an EJA public school in Porto Alegre, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Within this approach, a qualitative study was done with participant observation. The theoretical framework used articulates studies about Work and Gender and Popular Education. It concludes that understanding the educational processes related to the work experience of students creates a possibility for improving education as well as guaranteeing the right to education.
