Regina Novaes is a visiting professor at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), in the Posgraduate Program in Education. She was a professor at the Postgraduate Program in Sociology and Anthropology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where she supervised research on scientific initiation, master’s dissertations and doctoral theses. Dr. Regina has been dedicated to research on the following themes: social movements, youth, religion, culture, citizenship and violence. In this interview, given to professors Victor and Miriam, Professor Regina discusses important themes for the field of research in the area of youths, as well as presents clues for the discussions on public policies for contemporary youths. She states that the Youth Statute expresses consensuses and conflicts between the different actors who collaborated with its promulgation, be they politicians, social agents, researchers, social movements and young people themselves.
