The article focuses on the borders between families, schools and religions. In this territory there are disputes and tensions in the governance of children and young people. Initially, we recovered essential elements to understand the educational and legal role of families, schools and religions in the Brazilian legal system. Afterwards, we carried out an empirical analysis of tension situations, based on a collection of news from Brazilian newspapers, collected between 2022 and 2024, in which the report of disputes was presented. Once the collection was created, two thematic axes of analysis were selected: one that involved disputes in relation to school parties, and one that involved disputes around the censorship of books on themes of race, gender and sexuality. We conclude by recognizing the complexity of this triple border of families, schools and religions, and we point out some elements that should not be forgotten when arbitrating such disputes.
