This paper discusses questions linked to childhood and exclusion in pedagogical practices in low income nurseries. We have guided trainees for two years in a nursery of Aracaju (Sergipe, Brazil) which attends children of maids. Our research was a case-study integrating partially a research realized by the Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas sobre Exclusão, Cidadania e Direitos Humanos (GEPEC), financed by the CNPQ. We bring here part of the studies and reflections born through interviews and fieldwork observations during encounters with parents, teachers and coordinators. We are guided by a problematic about the legitimation of discriminatory and disciplinary practices through pedagogical discourses directed towards parents.
