This work analyses what pedagogy graduates say about their experiences in infantile education in a pedagogy program in a public university in Bahia, Brazil. Guide by the preschool pedagogy, this research is part of our master degree which aimed to evaluate the quality of pedagogical formation to work with preschool children. Our mostly qualitative ethnographic study used the following tools: documentary research, half- structured interviews, and observations in three public day care centers. Content analysis and triangulation guided data analysis. Relevant features encountered include: how the pedagogy program is elected; depreciation of preschool education as a place of actuation as well as within academic environment including students and university professors; as well as the meaning of the daily experience of these subjects within their formative context.
