Abstract

CISOTTO, Lerida  and  BARBOSA, Ana Rita de Cássia S.. Alfabetização emergente e desenvolvimento de competências na educação infantil. Revista da FAAEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2009, vol.18, n.31, pp.245-255. ISSN 0104-7043.

Emergent literacy is a set of abilities, knowledges, hypotheses and behaviours developed by children before the conventional learning of literacy. The development of such abilities depends mainly upon access to books and other written materials, and upon family experiences and socio-cultural context. By favouring the development of emergent literacy competences, mainly in children which seldom interact with the written language, one can contribute to a better development of the literacy processes. This paper brings important theoretical reflections and practical suggestions in order to promote such competences in a playful way.

Keywords : Emergent Literacy; Competences; Written Language; Cognitive and Metacognitive Abilities.
