This paper is a reflection on indigenous education in Brazil, considering historical and legal aspects, highlighting the changes with the advent of the 1988 constitution, which guarantees the educational field the right to specific ethnic and indigenous cultural. In this sense, an experience with research, production and adoption of textbooks written by Indian in the course of Indian teachings in Bahia, which includes a proposal for collaborative research in education, which aims to research and methods previously indicated, were discussed and negotiated with teachers indigenous researchers, to develop a practical research committed to a cognitive and intellectual indigenous. Among the results of this work we have published books Life and Culture of the People Tuxá Ibotirama; Our People: Readings Kiriri - Differentiated Education in the vision of people Kiriri and Pataxó Reading: Roots and Life of Pataxó, which are being adopted by indigenous schools from these ethnic groups.
