Resumen

RANGEL, Mary. A diversidade e a reivindicação de direitos nos movimentos sociais. Revista da FAAEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2010, vol.19, n.34, pp.39-47. ISSN 0104-7043.

This article aims to argue about the importance of respecting and welcoming diversity, as a human and sociopolitical right, emphasizing that claiming this right is a common proposal to NGO and social movements. It takes the form of an essay with a theoreticalanalytic background. We have observed that NGO strengthen the social movements and that both, as seen in the examples set in this text, promote mobilization in favor of diversity. We have considered, within the Arendtian perspective, the political relevance of the mobilization of society and fulfillment of their interests, highlighting this treatment as a requirement to legitimize the governments. We also have highlight, the relevance of the wider social movement in 2009, which has mobilized educators, associations and representatives of several instances of society in terms of proposals to the National Conference of Education/ and its influences in the Reform of the Brazilian Educational system. We have analyzed, within this movement, the thematic area of discussion and how they relate to rights claim emphasis in respecting diversity.
