Abstract

The present article proposes an analysis of the organizational process of the Catholic laity in the city of Curitiba from 1929 to 1954, highlighting its activity in the Bandeirantes Study Circle (BSC). The narrative shifts between the acts of the Catholic intellectuals aiming to establish the BSC and their discourse intended to promote a religious cosmic view among the young generation of Curitiba. In a stricter sense, it analyses the meaning underlying the pronouncements of the Catholic laity, which favour its affiliation networks and socialization (field), its worldviews (representations/ knowledge) and manners of expressing (speeches). It bases itself on documents from the BSC archives, particularly the ones published in their magazine and which are analysed from the perspective of history of education and intellectual history of education, aiming at restoring the project of the Catholic laity in Paraná without neglecting the national and international contexts as the backdrop of the Romanizing movement of the Catholic Church.
