This paper aims to contribute to the comprehension of the current stage of initial formation in Education of Young People and Adults (EYPA). For this purpose, we first analyze the National Curricular Directives of a program of pedagogy and teaching degrees in letters, mathematics and biology. We demonstrate that although EYPA is today legally defined as a kind of Basic Education, as far as teacher formation is concerned, considering the specific features of the area, the question appears to be underestimated in the teaching programs. In the second part, we discuss the importance in our days to consider the formation of teachers and students of EYPA according to an enlarged conception of work and social c1ass identification in order to create an educational process for human emancipation.
