Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Maria Olivia de Matos. Tornar visível o cotidiano da escola: experiências na EJA. Revista da FAAEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2012, vol.21, n.37, pp.163-172. ISSN 0104-7043.

This article presents reflections upon two different experiences about education of young people and adults (EYPA): the first one carried out in 2001 and the other one, done in a public school very close to Salvador/Bahia, between 2008 and 2010. Although the surveys have been done at different times and places, their results show a certain approximation. Therefore, aiming to turn the daily lives of the subjects from EVPA visible, we focused on teachers training, policies, appreciation of knowledge background of learners, and difficulties especially related to public policies. The experiences presented in this article may be adequately characterized more as proposals than diagnosis and demonstrate the necessity of establishing more dialogue between university and public school, in the intention of creating for the professionals who are working there. In both, opportunities to listen. We used an ethnographic approach in order to understand school as a socio-cultural space of knowledge exchange but also of exercise of powers. The results demonstrate great challenges to be met, and some certainties which will be discussed, like the idea that the professor is someone irreplaceable. Therefore, it is necessary to define new organization forms for the school, pedagogical practices, and curricular organization in order to be able to know and understand the real interests of the pupils, valuing other spaces and times of learning.
