This paper focuses on the problem of the nature of education and its relation to the philosophy of education. We present a discussion of the nature of education and we emphasize the importance of understanding the concept of education in order to go through the philosophy of education. The purpose of this article is not to show a specific philosophy of education as a model. We intend to discuss education from the perspective of the philosophy of education. The philosophy of education has been treated as a way of investigating the nature and aims and objectives of education in order to offer elements to educational practice. Questions on education lead people to ask about the nature of education and that is why it is important to develop the field of philosophy of education. Different conceptions of education have a common aspect concerning the need of deeper discussion on educational aims and objectives and processes. The inquiry about education is endless and the historical and contemporary tradition of philosophy of education invites us to continue the investigation about the nature of education in modern times. Understanding the nature of education is important for all who are interested in developing people for the challenge of a new world.
