Resumen

FARRERO, Jordi Garcia. O ato de caminhar e a educação: a propósito dos 300 anos do nascimento de Rousseau. Revista da FAAEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.39, pp.95-103. ISSN 0104-7043.

This paper aims to explore the way of walking of Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778). It is organized as follows. On the one hand, it indicates the last stage of his life as the one that makes possible more explicitly to observe his true Homo Viator. Over this period, as we can see in his autobiographical works, he began to fall out with the Encyclopedists, and the act of walking became a very appropriate activity as it allowed him to think and to recall the past and, at the same time, to satisfy his hurt, sad and unvalued ego by the high French society. Hence, the Rousseaunian way of walking was lonely, a kind of self-exile from the cities and the social apparatus - characterized by the contact with nature, his newest main occupation (herborization). On the other side, this article tries to make a reflection on the educational trend that emerged in the late nineteenth century (pedagogical neonomadism), because the pedestrian action of this author, which could be conceived as an excursion, is a clear antecedent of the pedagogical Romanticism.
