This thesis aims to understand the relationship between the school time, the other social times and the temporalities of the subjects. It is based on the analysis of biographical narratives of female teachers who work in two schools with multiserial classes and individuals from the communities of Botelho and Praia Grande, in Ilha de Maré. The analysis of the empirical field shows the problem of the school time that is reduced to rhythm, sometimes understood as an individual property, sometimes as an imposition of a hegemonic time, the clock. In order to problematize this notion, we bring authors such as Elias (1993), Faraco (2010a) and Bakhtin(2003) to discuss it. On the basis of the relationship between time and difference, the discussion has been done according to Bakhtin (2003; 2010) and Levinas (2011a, 2011b) studies, which, led us to another conception, time as simultaneity, understood as coexistence and interaction. For our empirical research, we chose as a methodological approach the (auto) Biographical narrative that allows the opportunity for the other talk about itself and, in so doing, through the narrative interview, let us see traces of a personal and social experience at the same time. According to our research, we may say that the understanding of the school time, on the one hand, relies on attention to the other social times that are present at school, and on the other hand, a particular attention to the interactions between the subjects inside the classroom. After all, the school time is an event that happens in the encounter with the other.
