This article aims to problematize the activity of research, focusing on how researches give voice to a child. In dialogue with Spivak, who questions if the subaltern can speak, we align our discussion with the links between childhood-subalternity-research. In this sense, according to what we have already seen in a qualitative perspective of research, marked by the polysemy of this production and seeking to move forward in the current debates about the theme, we argue from the point of view of cultural studies and post-colonial studies and we propose a research that, by shifting its own sense of colonization and problematizing it, questions the subalternity of childhood. We question: What does giving voice to the other in and for the research imply? From the dialogue with Bhabha, Bakhtin, Spivak, we argue that the act of doing research takes place in a contingent form in the inbetweenness of enunciation. It emerges as effect of the intersubjective space of signification and as negotiation, and it articulates in a contingent and contextual way its production. In this “between”, we find the research and from it emerges the political agency of the researcher. According to this, we discuss research with childhood, bringing some events of research in analysis.
