This paper aims to present a general view of the contributions and researches on cognitive processes of reading and writing learning based on neuroscience and emphasizing the importance of this knowledge for meaningful pedagogical practice on the development of reading and writing. For that, we bring fundamental concepts for comprehending the neuroscience perspective of language acquisition according to the connectionist approach.
