The Cognoteca gathers a collection of materials and games designed to exercise emotional, cognitive and social skills. The cognoteca inserted in the school context allows us to propose curricular and extracurricular activities, which contribute to strengthen the focus on the global education. Cognitive games are a collection of various games which trains cognitive aspects, by proposing the intersection among the concepts of games, fun and cognition. Considering these resources, in this paper, we aim to present the cognitive games as a teaching tool for exercising cognitive, emotional and social skills in the school context. The study is characterized as an exploratory study and it was carried out at Escola de Aplicação at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, based on the proposal of activities in the cognoteca and also on the observations conducted with elementary school children aged from 6 to 10 years. From that, we describe three different activity formats with cognitive  games and we point out some contributions to learning. At the same time, we present some pedagogical possibilities, emphasizing the related aspects for planning, resources and organization of space in the school context.
