This article sets up from a research which aims to understand how the School Library and the Computer Lab are being used as reading, writing and knowledge production environments. It is based on qualitative research according to the historical and cultural approach and Lev S. Vygotsky and Mikhail Bakhtin studies. The field of research was two schools located in the city of Juiz de Fora in the state of Minas Gerais. The research developed by: (a) semi-structured interviews with two librarians, a teacher who was responsible for the computer lab, three teachers and two pedagogical coordinators; (b) document analysis; (c) observation; and (d) questionnaire.
