Abstract

BOMFIM, Luciano Sérgio Ventin. Human ontology as a reference for emancipatory popular education. Revista da FAEEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2015, vol.24, n.43, pp.107-120. ISSN 0104-7043.  https://doi.org/10.2015/jan.jun.v24n43.009.

This essay is based on an issue that appears to be resolved; i.e. everyone knows what it is to be a human being, an assumption supported by the fact that educational texts very rarely see the need to clarify the concept. The aim of this essay is to explain Marx's vision of human attributes as didactic-pedagogical principles in the perspective of an emancipatory proposal for popular education. Its point of departure is the notion that human ontology, as a foundation for the development and affirmation of various identities, frees human beings from the possibility of reproducing the reifying logic of Capital in their social praxes. Using human ontology as a reference for the establishment of an emancipatory social and educational praxis involves the assumption of human attributes - such as labor, consciousness, universality, sociability, and freedom - as didactic-pedagogical principles. This decision requires recognizing students'humanity and embracing their identitiest and the ways in which they interpret reality, all of which are necessary and legitimate considerations for students' development as individuals and human beings.

Keywords : Human Ontology; Educational Principle; Education; Subjectivity.
