Abstract

NUNES, Eduardo José Fernandes; SANTOS, Marcos César Guimarães dos  and  BARRETO, Maria Raidalva Nery. The Center for Youth and Adult Education and Popular Education in the Sisal Territory of Bahia. Revista da FAEEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2015, vol.24, n.43, pp.183-197. ISSN 0104-7043.  https://doi.org/10.2015/jan.jun.v24n43.015.

Sisal Identity Territory (OBEJA - TIS / UNEB / CAPES) to build a network that aims to consolidate actions in the Youth and Adult Education, from the perspective of current debates on Popular Education , Social Movements and Local Development. The Sisal Identity Territory is located in the State of Bahia Northeast, across different periods in its history, but with the arrival of Culture Sisal, maintenance of large estates and the lack of public investment in education turned reality that territory that generated the scrapping of the school system demonstrated by the high levels of illiterate people. In an analytical perspective, using the thought of authors such as Freire and Nogueira (2005), Brandão (1998), Werthein (1985), Beisiegel (1989), among others, based on quantitative and qualitative research, we found that various alternative forms of association production and land tenure are emerging in Identity Territory Sisal and presenting new challenges. Popular education network held by different social movements prints a possibility of change in the absence of a more effective policy of educational investments, so there is a fairer social transformation in the territory.
