Abstract

This paper discusses pedagogical and technological alternatives that can reduce disparities in knowledge of the entrants of higher education with quality and sustainability, within a current paradigm focused on the complexity. This disparities are resulted of the entry of large classes because the necessity of Higher Education Institution's financial sustainability. This question arises from the current situation of these Institutions, which include epistemological, methodological, technical questions, but also the aspect of sustainability. The paper begins with the discussion of education in the present, dealing with current educational paradigms and their intimate connection with the technologies; involves the analysis of sustainability issues; reports the case study of the Teacher's Degree in Music from an University from Paraná, PUCPR, analyzing the profile of the entrant; and, finally, proposes the use of ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) in this context, conceptualizing them as an alternative solution to the problem. It is concluded that ICTs in higher education becomes increasingly essential, both as a means to make the acquisition of knowledge within the university, and as an element that must be part of a future professional.
