Abstract

DORING, Katharina. Listening to the musical diversity of the world for a cognitive music education “beyond borders”. Revista da FAEEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.48, pp.27-46. ISSN 0104-7043.  https://doi.org/10.21879/faeeba2358-0194.v26.n48.3572.

The fields of music education and ethnomusicology in academic research are getting more closer in the way that Brazil is trying to honor and integrate the oral music traditions, of African and Indigenous roots among others, as cultural heritage and special contents for music in basic school. I pretend to weave, between the fields of ethnomusicology, music education, Cultural Studies and music cognition, a critical and interactive dialogue, that might help to formulate new parameters for a music education based on the musical diversity from Brazil and music all over the world.

Keywords : Music Education; Ethnomusicology; Cultural Studies; Musical Diversity.
