SILVA, Mara Pereira da. Musical experiences in the school space: narratives of indigenous youths. Revista da FAEEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.48, pp.139-150. ISSN 0104-7043.  https://doi.org/10.21879/faeeba2358-0194.v26.n48.3583.

The teaching and learning in music of indigenous young people in the school space is still incipient in the area of Music Education. This article will present a research completed that aimed to investigate the ways in which young indigenous people from the Federal Institute of Pará - Campus Rural de Marabá (IFPA/CRMB) constitute their musical experiences. The theoretical framework that I call operational concepts of the research was developed in the area of Indigenous School Education. The methodology used is the autobiographical approach (DELORY-MOMBERGER, 2008, 2012). The research technique focused on the narrative interview (JOVCHELOVITCH; BAUER, 2002; SCHÜTZE, 2011, 2013). The research results pointed out that the research collaborators want to know other cultures, to learn other songs. And in this way of learning they are open both to learnings of written musical codes, and to musical transmission through orality. These processes help us to think of an intercultural indigenous school music education, whose aspects related to how to do, how to teach, how to learn, are in constant dialogue and promoting values coming from philosophical, anthropological and sociological fields.
