The twenty-first century brought with it numerous scientific revolutions. However, it is still essentially dependent on natural resources for human well-being. Education plays an important role in the development of humanity and in the way that populations change the dynamics of nature. In this sense, eco-development is enveloped in ecosocioeconomics, because it is an approach that emphasizes that social systems are embedded in natural systems. The article presents an ecossocioeconomic experience of research-action methodology in three thematic axes: i) history of the occupation of Blumenau and region; ii) environment and neighborhood; iii) interfaces between environmental and human health. Results involved the expansion of perceptions and ways of thinking and acting, as well as the promotion of pedagogical innovation, in the light of the ecodevelopment approach. In conclusion, study the perception of physical-geographical and local environmental reality can lead to an increased awareness of environmental vulnerability.
