Abstract

This research investigates tourism in Ponta Grossa, Redonda, Requenguela and Tremembé communities municipality of Icapuí / CE, which have a history of popular participation and high level of politicization. They are traditional communities who produce handmade vessels and fishing artifacts, tools that families use on the coast and develop an alternative tourism. Consisting of lobster fishermen groups that face the challenge of overseeing the coast to prevent overfishing, we highlight its natural beauty, historical and cultural heritage, as well, the place receives flows of tourists from various places. It search to understand transformations of Ponta Grossa, Redonda, Requenguela and Tremembé communities from the arrival of tourism that transforms communities to go to centers of tourism recipients, areas of second homes, with implications for the socio-spatial development Icapuí. It is observed that in spite of the communities feel excluded from municipal political action remain organized and productive.
