This article aims to discuss an educational experience for secondary education in the city of Salvador / Bahia between the 1960s and 1970s considered innovative in the period in which it was built. It presents the results of a master's research that analyzes the Integrated Education Centers, highlighting the Integrated Center Anísio Teixeira, a school that offered primary and secondary education with professional technical courses, whose focus was to give children and young people an education complete, an education that would help the individual not only in terms of cognitive or intellectual aspects, but also in their development as a whole and in training for work. The article provides a brief analysis of the Unique School, whose principles and design were the basis for the experience of the Integrated Centers and then examines its specificities and how they were actually carried out based on the testimonies of people who participated in its planning and those who they lived the daily life of the experience put into practice - former teachers and former students. Finally, it registers its importance for the history of secondary education in Bahia in its time and for today, that is, its legacy as an innovative educational experience.
