Abstract

LEGNANI, Viviane Neves  and  ALMEIDA, Sandra Francesca Conte de. REFLECTIONS ON THE “EPIDEMIC” OF DEPRESSION IN ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PSYCHOANALYSIS AND POLITICS. Revista da FAEEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2020, vol.29, n.60, pp.42-53.  Epub Aug 24, 2021. ISSN 2358-0194.  https://doi.org/10.21879/faeeba2358-0194.2020.v29.n60.p42-53.

The article aims to reflect on the impacts of one of the axes of neuroculture, which is the medicalization of adolescents and young adults. It critically discusses the medical diagnosis of Depressive Disorder through a discussion between psychoanalysis and politics and discusses the problem of depression in the contemporary as a social symptom. It presents a clinical vignette to illustrate this discussion and concludes by highlighting the importance of a discursive repositioning of the school through processes of political subjectivation in the face of the neoliberal adaptive logic, widely rooted in these institutions.

Keywords : Depressive disorder; Psychoanalysis; Politics; Political subjectification.
