Abstract

MACHADO, Lucília Regina de Souza. General and specialized education: Does the transformation of capitalist production imply the end of this duality?. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 1995, n.00, pp.83-93. ISSN 1413-2478.

The artide defends the necessity of a new understanding of the polarity between general and specialized education. Changes in the field of science, of social relations, and in work processes are examined in regard to the challenge they represent for the democratization of schools. In order to discuss the place of general and professional formation in this new context, the artide analyzes the relationship between subject and object in constructing knowledge, the play of social interests, the appearance of new places for sacializing other than schools, and the impact of technical rationality.
