Abstract

BRONCKART, Jean-Paul; CLEMENCE, Alain; SCHNEUWLY, Bernard  and  SCHURMANS, Marie-Noelle. Manifesto: reshaping humanities and social sciences, a vygotskian perspective. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 1996, n.03, pp.64-74. ISSN 1413-2478.

Vygotsky already described the spliced up psychology rooted in the post-cartesian dualism which leads to expansionism of local explanations and to silence about language. The reunification of psychology necessitates a monist and historical-cultural perspective in human/social sciences in general, and in psychology in particular, and a serious consideration of the status of  language, contrary for instance to the perspective developed by Skinner and Piaget. The position proposed in the article is socio-discursive interactionism based on the principle that human behavior is the result of the appropriating and interiorising of socially and historically produced semiotic instruments. On this background, the place o( psychology in the reshaping of the human/social sciences is at the same time nodal, in that all these sciences are concerned with topics of representative nature, and second in so far as psychology functioning is socially produced. The broad methodology of the presented approach is related to understanding. the researcher being always confronted with interpretation of actions or texts.
