Abstract

LOPES, Alice Ribeiro Casimiro. History of graduate studies curriculum in education at the UFRJ - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1972-1981): concepts 01 knowledge and research. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 1998, n.07, pp.57-73. ISSN 1413-2478.

This article analyses the concepts of knowledge and research of a Masters Degree Program in Education at UFRJ from 1972 to 1981 as one of the aspects of building a graduate course curriculum. By analyzing documents and holding interviews with the social actors of that period it is concluded that - during its first ten years - the bureaucratic institutional proposal of the Masters course at UFRJ exacerbated the division between content and method, conceiving research as a methodological exercise referring to restricted problems. This proposal conditioned and was conditioned by a realistic and empirical concept of knowledge with positivist characteristics.
