Abstract

SKLIAR, Carlos. Bilinguism and biculturalism: an analysis about traditional narratives in the education of the deaf. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 1998, n.08, pp.44-57. ISSN 1413-2478.

In this article the possible theoretical, pedagogical and ideological movements for the education of the deaf are discussed. It is an analysis of the movement of tension relating to special education and its proximity to other fields of study in education as, for example, studies that refer to culture, gender and anthropology with regard to other minorities. The traditional pedagogical narratives about the deaf are also discussed, as is the subjacent logic of binary opposition.
