Abstract

FRANCO, Creso. The Brazilian System or Assessment for Basic Education (SAEB): potential, problems and challenges. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 2001, n.17, pp.127-133. ISSN 1413-2478.

This paper has been developed by the author as member of a board of specialists appointed to present contributions for enhancing the Brazilian System of Educational Assessment. It argues in favour of the diversification of assessment design as a way of focusing on aspects of educational policy that are relevant to policy makers. Such diversification should include measuring learning via a value added approach, thus making it possible to explain learning by means of appropriate models.
