ROCHA, Mauricio. Paradoxo da formação: servidão voluntária e liberação. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 2004, n.27, pp.154-171. ISSN 1413-2478.

There is a paradox in the present material constitution, which involves the teaching function and the nature of education in many forms. Discourse on educational reform is manifest in numerous contexts. It constitutes the paradox of our condition: on the one hand, there is the voluntary slavery proposed by post-fordism and, on the other, a quantum of liberation full of possibilities. Teaching as an activity is situated between and in the middle of this paradox. It is affected in different ways from the moment in which it breaks the tie between work and the production of wealth (which changes the productive insertion of individuals), making capitalism parasitical (since it can no longer dominate the structure of the work process unilaterally by the division between manual and intellectual labour) and resulting in the brain of those who work being considered the most important fixed capital. If we suppose the equality of intelligence despite its multiplicity, we can understand that within the established ground of the present material constitution, which is the place of the future, the sense of formation gains urgency.
